Trip Overview

The Tsum Valley Trek is one of Nepal’s most peaceful and culturally rich Himalayan journeys. Tsum Valley lies close to the Tibetan border, yet it has remained isolated from the outside world for centuries. This way, it has preserved its ancient Buddhist traditions, monasteries, prayer walls, and unique lifestyle. Unlike the busy trekking routes in Nepal, Tsum Valley is calm, less crowded, and full of traditional culture that has stayed unchanged for many years.

Your trip starts in Kathmandu with a long, scenic drive to the Manaslu region. The road passes through rivers, terraced farms, small villages, waterfalls, and hillside landscapes before reaching the trek’s starting point, Machha Khola. From the very first day of walking, you begin to experience the raw beauty of the Himalayas.

The trail follows the Budhi Gandaki River and passes through forests of pine and rhododendron, along narrow paths carved into hillsides, across suspension bridges, and through traditional mountain settlements. Every day feels different as the scenery slowly shifts from green lower hills to dry, dramatic high-mountain landscapes.

As you walk higher into the valley, you pass through beautiful villages like Chumling and Chhokangparo. Here, you can see traditional stone houses, colorful prayer flags, chortens, and mani walls. The local people are friendly and lead a simple lifestyle closely connected to Tibetan Buddhism. Life in these villages is peaceful, and many old traditions are still followed today.

One of the best parts of the trek is the valley’s calm, spiritual atmosphere. Along the trail, you hear rivers flowing, prayer wheels spinning, and monastery bells echoing through the mountains. You also visit ancient monasteries and important Buddhist sites. The valley is connected to the famous Buddhist saint Milarepa, and many caves in the area are believed to have been used for meditation hundreds of years ago.

As you continue the journey, you will see even more beautiful mountain views. Huge peaks such as Ganesh Himal, Sringi Himal, Boudha Himal, and Himalchuli rise above the valley, making the trek even more exciting. You will also visit Mu Gompa, the region’s largest monastery. The quiet surroundings, mountain views, and peaceful feeling make this place one of the best parts of the trek.

Tsum Valley Trek overview

The Tsum Valley Trek is perfect if you want to enjoy nature and local culture away from busy trekking routes. The trails are quiet, the villages are traditional, and you can experience the simple lifestyle of the Himalayan people.

This 13-day trek gives you more than just mountain views. You can enjoy beautiful scenery, learn about Tibetan Buddhist culture, meet friendly locals, and explore peaceful villages. The Tsum Valley Trek is a great choice if you want a calm and unforgettable Himalayan adventure.

Unforgettable Trekking Experience & Warmest Hospitality with Silvermoon Adventure Silvermoon Adventure and Tours provides comprehensive, reliable, and top-tier service, treating every guest with genuine warmth and care. They truly make Nepal feel like a second home, and trekking with them means you won't need to worry about a single detail from start to finish. Why I Chose Silvermoon Adventure and Tours I learned about the team through Deepak. Once he knew my flight details and preferred trek, he immediately customized a detailed itinerary for me. While I consulted other travel agencies in Nepal, Deepak and the Silvermoon team provided the most thorough plan and transparent information, giving me complete confidence to book with them. The Trekking Experience My guide, Basanta, took exceptional care of me throughout the entire journey. Along the trail, he constantly checked in on how I was feeling, offered breaks, and even offered to carry my backpack to ensure I was comfortable. Every time we arrived at a tea house, he made sure I had food and drinks ready—even reminding me to order meals when I was too exhausted to think about it. On the day we reached Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), I developed a mild headache. Basanta immediately arranged garlic soup to help relieve the altitude sickness and provided medicine to soothe the pain. His attentive care made all the difference in completing the trek safely. Beyond his attentiveness, Basanta is an expert guide who always navigated the easiest paths at trail junctions. Even after we returned to Pokhara for dinner, he ensured I got back to my hotel safely. Deepak also checked in via message every single day during the trek to ensure everything was running smoothly. After the Trek The team's hospitality didn't end on the trail. Back in Kathmandu, the founder, Bishal, gave me a warm welcome, helped me retrieve my luggage from the hotel, showed me around the city, and personally arranged my airport drop-off. Thank you to Basanta, Bishal, and Deepak for an unforgettable experience. I will definitely return to Nepal and trek with Silvermoon Adventure and Tours again. Highly recommended!

My trip with Silver Moon Adventure was truly unforgettable. Exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu was an amazing experience, with each place showcasing Nepal's rich history, culture, and architectural beauty. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the monasteries in Pharping. The peaceful atmosphere and meditation experience were deeply spiritual and left me feeling calm and inspired. It was a unique opportunity that I will always remember. A heartfelt thank you to the entire team at Silver Moon Adventure for organizing such a wonderful journey and introducing me to these special places. Their professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail made the trip enjoyable from start to finish. I highly recommend Silver Moon Adventure to anyone looking for an authentic cultural and spiritual experience in Nepal. I will definitely return for another trip in the future!

I recently completed the 5-day Mardi Himal Trek with a group of 6 people, organized by Silver Moon Adventure, and it was an amazing experience from start to finish. Our guide, Dipak, was professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly supportive throughout the trek. He made sure everyone in the group was safe, comfortable, and enjoying the journey. His friendly attitude and local knowledge made the experience even more memorable. The trek itself was stunning, with beautiful forests, peaceful trails, and breathtaking mountain views, especially from Mardi Himal View Point. Everything was well organized, including the accommodation, meals, and daily itinerary, allowing us to fully enjoy the adventure without any worries. I highly recommend Silver Moon Adventure to anyone planning the Mardi Himal Trek. A big thank you to Dipak for making our trip so enjoyable and unforgettable!

My Annapurna Base Camp trek with Silver Moon Adventure and Tours was an excellent experience from beginning to end. Since this was my second trekking trip in Nepal, I had high expectations, and the company truly delivered outstanding service. The team communicated very professionally and answered every question with patience and kindness. The hotels arranged during the trek were comfortable and well selected. Most importantly, the guide and porter were incredibly supportive, caring, and attentive throughout the journey. I felt safe, comfortable, and fully supported during the entire trek. I would definitely choose Silver Moon Adventure and Tours again for future adventures in Nepal.
