Over 13 days, the journey takes you through the changing landscapes of the Annapurna region, from green valleys and traditional villages to the remote beauty of the high Himalayas.

Annapurna Circuit Luxury Trek Route

The journey follows the classic Annapurna Circuit route while adding the comfort and care that make a longer mountain adventure more enjoyable. Rather than rushing from one stop to the next, the trek is paced to let you enjoy the landscapes, culture, and quiet moments along the trail. Our experienced guides and carefully selected accommodations ensure you have the comfort and support you need throughout the journey.

The trail passes through charming mountain villages, ancient monasteries, and landscapes shaped by generations of Himalayan communities. As you climb higher, the scenery changes from forests and farmland to dramatic cliffs, open valleys, and the rugged beauty of the high Himalayas. Along the way, you’ll enjoy views of some of Nepal’s most famous peaks, including Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, and Gangapurna.

  • Day 04 Trek to Upper Pisang.

After breakfast, continue your journey deeper into the Annapurna region as you make your way to the beautiful village of Upper Pisang. Today’s trek brings a noticeable change in both the landscape and the local culture. The lush pine forests gradually give way to the rugged alpine terrain that defines the upper Manang Valley.

Leaving Chame behind, you’ll follow the Marsyangdi River through peaceful forests, crossing wooden bridges and walking along rocky trails carved by glaciers and rushing rivers over thousands of years. With every step, the mountain scenery becomes even more dramatic.

One of the highlights of the day is Paungda Danda, a huge curved rock wall rising almost 1,500 meters above the valley. It is considered sacred by the local Buddhist community and is one of the most impressive sights on the Annapurna Circuit.

As you continue walking, you’ll enjoy amazing views of Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Pisang Peak, and the icy slopes of Gangapurna. The mountains appear closer as you reach Upper Pisang, making this one of the best days for beautiful Himalayan views.

By afternoon, you’ll arrive in Upper Pisang (3,300 m / 10,827 ft), a traditional Tibetan-style village set on a hillside overlooking the valley below. Wander through its narrow stone lanes, admire centuries-old monasteries, colorful prayer flags, and traditional homes, or relax and take in the peaceful atmosphere.

As the day comes to an end, settle into one of the best available mountain lodges and watch the setting sun cast a golden glow across the Annapurna range. It’s a perfect place to unwind before another exciting day on the trail.

Today, you’ll leave Upper Pisang behind and follow the famous high trail to Nawal (Ngawal). While this route involves a steady uphill climb, the incredible mountain views and rich cultural experiences make every step worthwhile.

The trail takes you to the beautiful village of Ghyaru. Here, you’ll see traditional stone houses, prayer flags, chortens, mani walls, and prayer wheels that reflect the local Tibetan Buddhist culture. As you climb the stone steps on the hillside, you’ll get amazing views of the Marsyangdi Valley below.

From Ghyaru, the trail continues high above the valley, offering incredible views of the mountains in every direction. Along the way, you’ll see Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, Gangapurna, the distinctive Pisang Peak, and, on a clear day, the distant summit of Tilicho Peak. It’s one of the most scenic sections of the trek and a great place to pause and enjoy the Himalayas.

By afternoon, you’ll reach Nawal (3,650 m / 11,975 ft), a quiet mountain village with terraced fields, old monasteries, and beautiful Himalayan views. The higher altitude makes it a good place to rest, relax, and let your body adjust before heading further into the mountains.

After settling into one of the best available mountain lodges, enjoy a warm dinner and spend a quiet evening soaking in the peaceful atmosphere and unforgettable Himalayan views.

  • Day 06 Trek to Manang.

Today’s trek is shorter and more relaxed, giving you plenty of time to enjoy the stunning scenery and continue acclimatizing to the higher altitude. After breakfast in Nawal, you’ll set off toward the beautiful mountain village of Manang, passing through peaceful alpine landscapes and traditional Himalayan settlements along the way.

As you walk further, the trail takes you through open valleys and beautiful mountain landscapes. You’ll see snow-covered peaks in the distance, prayer flags waving in the breeze, and yaks grazing on the hillsides. The views become more and more impressive as you get deeper into the Annapurna region.

Later, you’ll visit Braga Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the area. Sitting above the village on a hillside, this peaceful monastery is filled with old paintings, prayer wheels, statues, and Tibetan artwork. It’s a great place to learn about the local culture and the region’s spiritual traditions.

From Braga, it’s a short and easy walk to Manang (3,550 m / 11,647 ft), one of the best-known villages on the Annapurna Circuit. This is an important stop for acclimatization before continuing toward the legendary Thorong La Pass.

Once you arrive in Manang and get settled at your lodge, the afternoon is yours to enjoy. Take a walk around the village, stop by a local café, explore the small shops, or relax and admire the mountain scenery. Manang is a peaceful and welcoming place, making it the perfect spot to rest before the next part of your journey.

    • Trek Duration: 4-5 hours trek

  • Day 07 Acclimatization day at Manang.

Today is all about helping your body adjust to the altitude before you continue toward the legendary Thorong La Pass. Rather than gaining more elevation, you’ll spend another night in Manang while enjoying a short acclimatization hike to a higher viewpoint.

Depending on how you feel and the weather conditions, you can spend the day exploring some of the beautiful trails around Manang. You might visit the peaceful Gangapurna Lake, walk up to a viewpoint for great valley views, or challenge yourself with a longer hike to Ice Lake for unforgettable mountain scenery.

Wherever you choose to explore, you’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Annapurna II, Gangapurna, Tilicho Peak, and the surrounding glaciers, rugged cliffs, and wide alpine valleys. The higher you climb, the more dramatic the Himalayan landscape becomes.

Your guide will also share practical tips for trekking at high altitude, including staying well hydrated, walking at a steady pace, and recognizing the early signs of altitude sickness. These simple steps will help you stay comfortable and make the most of your time on the trail.

After your hike, you’ll return to Manang for a well-earned rest. Enjoy a warm meal, relax at a local café, or take a quiet stroll through the village. Surrounded by the mountains, Manang is the perfect place to unwind, recharge, and get ready for the next stage of your adventure.

    Overnight at Manang.

    • Max. Altitude: 3,550m (11,647 feet)

    • Accommodation: Premium Mountain Lodge (Best Available)

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

  • Day 08 Trek to Yak Kharka.

After breakfast, leave Manang behind and continue your journey into the higher reaches of the Annapurna region. Today’s trek is shorter, allowing your body to adjust gradually as you gain elevation before the challenging days ahead.

As you continue climbing, you’ll notice the landscape gradually change around you. The lush forests begin to fade, giving way to rugged hillsides, rocky trails, and wide mountain valleys. With every step higher, the air becomes cooler, the views stretch even farther, and the feeling of being deep in the Himalayas becomes more real.

Along the way, you may spot herds of yaks grazing in the mountain pastures—a reminder that you’ve entered one of Nepal’s true high-altitude landscapes. With fewer trees and uninterrupted mountain views, today’s walk offers a peaceful and unforgettable Himalayan experience.

By early afternoon, you’ll arrive at Yak Kharka (4,020 m / 13,189 ft), a small seasonal settlement that serves as an important stop for trekkers preparing to cross Thorong La Pass. After checking into one of the best available mountain lodges, spend the rest of the day relaxing, staying well hydrated, and enjoying the spectacular surroundings as your body continues to acclimatize.

A warm dinner and a restful evening await before tomorrow’s trek to Thorong Phedi.

    Overnight in Yak Kharka.

    • Accommodation: Premium Mountain Lodge (Best Available)

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    • Trek Duration: 3-4 hours trek

  • Day 09 Trek to Fedi.

After breakfast, continue your trek toward Thorong Phedi, the final stop before crossing the legendary Thorong La Pass. Although today’s walk is relatively short, it’s an important day as you gain altitude and prepare for tomorrow’s early-morning adventure.

Today’s walk takes you deeper into the high mountains, where the scenery feels more open and remote. Along the way, you’ll cross small streams and enjoy clear views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks. With the forests now behind you, the landscape feels quieter, more open, and even more beautiful.

As you get closer to Thorong Phedi, the mountain scenery becomes even more impressive. Huge cliffs surround the valley, with snow-covered peaks rising in the distance. At this altitude, the air feels thinner, so you’ll take your time, walk at a comfortable pace, and give your body time to adjust.

Arriving at Thorong Phedi (4,550 m / 14,928 ft), you’ll check into one of the best available mountain lodges and have the rest of the afternoon to relax. Enjoy a warm meal, stay well hydrated, and take time to rest—tomorrow will be the most challenging and rewarding day of the trek.

An early dinner and an early night’s sleep will help you prepare for the pre-dawn start to Thorong La Pass, one of the highest and most iconic trekking passes in the world.

    Overnight in Fedi.

    • Max. Altitude: 4,550 meters (14,928 feet)

    • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

    • Trek Duration: 3-4 hours trek

  • Day 10 Trek to Muktinath (3700M) via Thorong La Pass (5416M).

Today marks the most iconic and rewarding chapter of your Annapurna Circuit journey. Rising before dawn, you will begin your ascent from Thorong Phedi toward the legendary Thorong La Pass (5,416 m / 17,769 ft)—one of the highest and most spectacular trekking passes in the world.

As the first light of day touches the Himalayan peaks, you will make your way slowly and steadily through the high alpine wilderness. The climb is demanding, with rugged trails, cold mountain air, and the effects of altitude adding to the challenge. However, every step brings you closer to an extraordinary achievement and some of the most breathtaking scenery in the Himalayas.

When you reach Thorong La Pass, take a moment to enjoy what you’ve just achieved. Standing among the prayer flags with the Himalayas all around you is an unforgettable experience. You’ll have amazing views of the Annapurna range behind you, Dhaulagiri in front, and the vast Mustang landscape spreading out below.

After enjoying the views from Thorong La Pass and taking some memorable photos, you’ll begin the descent toward Muktinath after the challenging crossing. The landscape changes as you leave the high mountains behind and enter the dry, unique terrain of the Mustang region.

Once you arrive in Muktinath (3,700 m / 12,139 ft), you will then settle into your comfortable stay and take some time to relax after the challenging crossing. This peaceful village is an important pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Buddhists. You can visit Muktinath Temple, see the sacred water springs and eternal flame, or enjoy the calm mountain surroundings.

    • Trek Duration: 7-8 hours trek

  • Day 11 Private car/jeep drive to Pokhara.

After breakfast, bid farewell to the high mountains and begin your scenic journey toward Pokhara, Nepal’s beautiful lakeside city. Today’s drive follows the spectacular Kali Gandaki Valley, one of the most dramatic landscapes in the Himalayas, located between the mighty Annapurna and Dhaulagiri mountain ranges.

As you leave the Mustang region behind, you’ll notice the scenery slowly begin to change. The dry, rugged mountains give way to green hills, forests, farmland, and peaceful villages. Along the way, you’ll pass waterfalls, dramatic cliffs, traditional settlements, and the Kali Gandaki River winding through the valley.

The drive is a great chance to experience everyday life in rural Nepal. Along the way, you’ll see prayer flags hanging from suspension bridges, small villages tucked into the hillsides, and local communities carrying on with their daily routines. The journey is long, but the constantly changing scenery makes every part of the drive enjoyable.

By the afternoon, you’ll arrive in Pokhara, a laid-back lakeside city with stunning mountain views. After completing the Annapurna Circuit, it’s the perfect place to slow down and enjoy a few well-earned comforts. Check into your hotel, take a walk along Phewa Lake, settle into a lakeside café, or relax and soak up the peaceful atmosphere.

Additional information

Trekking Permits and Documentation

The Annapurna Circuit passes through the Annapurna Conservation Area, so you’ll need the required trekking permits and conservation documentation before starting the trek. The package includes the required trekking permits mentioned on the trip page.

Keep your passport and permit details safely with you during the journey. Your guide will normally assist with the necessary permit and checkpoint procedures along the route.

It is also useful to carry several photocopies or digital copies of your passport, travel insurance information, and emergency contact details.

Understanding the Trek Difficulty

This trek is graded moderate to challenging. You don’t need to be an experienced mountaineer, but you should be prepared for several consecutive days of walking across changing terrain.

Most trekking days involve around 4–7 hours of walking, although the Thorong La Pass day is considerably longer and more demanding. You will encounter stone steps, rocky paths, gradual climbs, steep sections, suspension bridges, and high-altitude trails.

Good preparation makes a major difference. Regular walking, hiking, stair climbing, jogging, cycling, or other endurance activities in the weeks before your trip can help improve your stamina.

Preparing for the Road Journey to Dharapani

The journey begins with a long private drive from Kathmandu toward Dharapani. The road passes through hills, rivers, terraced farmland, villages, forests, and increasingly mountainous landscapes.

Some sections of the mountain road can be rough or uneven. A private 4WD vehicle provides more comfort and flexibility, but the journey can still take much of the day.

Keep water, snacks, sunglasses, and a light layer within easy reach during the drive. Roads can also be affected by weather and local conditions, so you may need some flexibility.

Walking Through Chame and the Marsyangdi Valley

The trail from Dharapani toward Chame passes through forests, waterfalls, suspension bridges, villages, and dramatic mountain scenery.

Chame is an important stop along the route and offers a chance to rest before continuing to the higher villages. You may notice the temperature becoming cooler and the landscape becoming more alpine as you gain elevation. Use these early days to settle into a steady walking routine and stay well hydrated.

Upper Pisang and the Higher Annapurna Landscape

Upper Pisang is a memorable cultural stop on the route. Traditional stone houses, prayer flags, monasteries, mani walls, and surrounding mountain peaks give the village a distinct Himalayan character.

The landscape also begins changing noticeably around this section. Forests thin out, valleys widen and open up, and the mountains appear closer and closer.

If the weather is clear, this is an excellent section for photography, especially in the morning and late afternoon.

Altitude and Acclimatization

Altitude is one of the main challenges of the Annapurna Circuit. The trek eventually reaches 5,416 meters at Thorong La Pass, where the air contains significantly less oxygen than at lower elevations.

Altitude sickness can affect anyone, regardless of age or previous trekking experience. Common warning signs can include headache, unusual tiredness, dizziness, nausea, or difficulty sleeping.

The best approach is to ascend gradually, maintain a comfortable pace, stay hydrated, eat regularly, and communicate honestly with your guide about how you feel.

If symptoms become serious or continue to worsen, descending to a lower altitude matters more than continuing the itinerary.

Descending to Muktinath

After crossing Thorong La, the trail descends toward Muktinath. The landscape changes dramatically as you enter the drier Mustang region.

Muktinath is an important pilgrimage destination for both Hindus and Buddhists. The area has a unique combination of religious significance, mountain scenery, traditional settlements, and dry Himalayan landscapes.

Take time to experience the area respectfully, rather than treating the temple as just another sightseeing stop.

Culture and Local Communities

The Annapurna Circuit passes through communities with different cultural traditions, including Gurung, Manangi, Tibetan-influenced, and Mustang communities.

You will see monasteries, prayer wheels, mani walls, chortens, prayer flags, traditional homes, and other signs of local Himalayan culture.

When visiting religious sites, dress respectfully, avoid touching religious objects without permission, and ask before photographing people or ceremonies.

A simple greeting and respectful attitude can make interactions with local communities much more meaningful.

Accommodation During the Trek

The luxury package includes 5-star hotels in Kathmandu and Pokhara, while accommodation in the mountain region is provided in quality or best-available teahouses and mountain lodges. Facilities become more basic as you travel higher into the mountains. Many stops offer private rooms, but availability depends on the season and the lodge.

Attached bathrooms are more common at lower elevations, while shared facilities may be more typical at higher locations. This is an important part of understanding luxury trekking in a remote Himalayan environment: comfort is improved where possible, but the mountain setting naturally limits what can be provided.

Food and Drinking Water

Full-board meals are provided during the trek, including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Expect a mix of local and familiar trekking meals, depending on the lodge. Dal bhat, noodles, rice, soups, vegetables, pasta, potatoes, eggs, and other simple meals are commonly available along popular trekking routes.

Drink water regularly throughout the day. Also carry a reusable bottle or hydration system so you can keep water accessible while walking.

Weather and Trail Conditions

Weather changes quickly in the Annapurna region. Lower sections can be relatively mild while higher areas can become cold, windy, and snowy.

Morning conditions are often more stable, but mountain weather can change without much warning. Trails may become slippery after rain or snow, and high-pass conditions can affect the Thorong La crossing.

Always carry a waterproof layer and warm clothing, even when the weather looks good at the start of the day.

What to Pack

Essential items include:

  • Comfortable trekking boots
  • Warm layers
  • Down or insulated jacket
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Thermal base layers
  • Warm gloves and hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Sunscreen and lip balm
  • Trekking poles
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Headlamp
  • Personal medication
  • Small first-aid kit
  • Power bank
  • Personal toiletries
  • Sleeping bag suitable for cold conditions

A good layering system is especially useful because temperatures can change significantly between day and night.

Porter and Baggage

Porter support is included in the package, with the current arrangement providing one porter for every two trekkers.

Keep your most important personal items in your daypack. Keep your passport, money, medication, water, camera, electronics, warm layers, and other essentials with you rather than in your main luggage. A small and comfortable daypack will make long walking days easier.

Electricity, Charging and Wi-Fi

Electricity, Wi-Fi, and charging services can become less reliable and may cost extra at mountain lodges.

Don’t rely entirely on internet access during the trek. Download important documents, maps, entertainment, and contact information before leaving Kathmandu. A power bank is strongly recommended, especially during the higher sections of the trek.

Money and Personal Expenses

Carry enough Nepali cash for personal expenses because card facilities and ATMs become limited outside larger settlements.

You may need additional money for optional services such as hot showers, charging, Wi-Fi, snacks, drinks, and other personal purchases.

Carry smaller denominations where possible, as smaller mountain lodges and shops may not always have enough change.

Travel Insurance and Emergency Support

Travel insurance is strongly recommended for this trek and should specifically cover high-altitude trekking.

Because the itinerary reaches 5,416 meters, check that your policy covers the altitude involved in your trek as well as emergency medical treatment and helicopter evacuation where applicable.

Read the policy conditions carefully before traveling. Standard travel insurance does not always automatically include high-altitude trekking or evacuation.

Photography at High Altitude

The Annapurna Circuit offers constantly changing scenery, from green valleys and forests to dry mountain landscapes and enormous Himalayan peaks.

Keep your camera or phone protected from cold, dust, moisture, and accidental drops. Batteries can drain faster in cold conditions, so carrying a power bank is useful.

Early mornings and late afternoons often provide beautiful light, but always make safety your first priority when stopping for photographs.

Responsible Trekking

Help protect the Annapurna region by following Leave No Trace principles wherever possible.

Carry reusable bottles, avoid unnecessary plastic waste, use designated waste facilities, and never leave rubbish along the trail.

Stay on established paths, avoid disturbing wildlife, and respect the natural environment around villages, monasteries, rivers, and mountain trails.

Respecting Local Culture

The Annapurna region is home to communities with deep cultural and religious traditions.

Ask permission before photographing people, especially monks, children, or religious ceremonies. Dress appropriately when visiting monasteries and temples, and avoid loud or disruptive behavior around religious sites.

Supporting local lodges, restaurants, shops, and handicraft producers also helps tourism benefits reach the communities along the route.

Tipping for Guides and Porters

Tipping is not generally treated as a compulsory fee, but it is a common way for trekkers to show appreciation for guides, porters, drivers, and other support staff.

The amount is a personal choice and can depend on the quality of service, length of the trek, and your overall experience.

If you are unsure about local tipping practices, ask your trekking company or guide for current guidance before the trip.

Itinerary Flexibility

Mountain travel is different from travelling in cities. Weather, trail conditions, road conditions, local circumstances, or unexpected health concerns can affect the schedule.

The itinerary may therefore need to be adjusted when necessary, particularly around high-altitude sections and the Thorong La crossing.

Your guide and local team will make decisions based on safety and current conditions. Keeping some flexibility in your travel plans is especially useful if you have an international flight shortly after the trek.

Best Time for the Trek

The current itinerary recommends spring (March–May) and autumn (September–November) as the best seasons.

These periods generally offer favorable trekking conditions, clearer mountain views, and better trail conditions. Conditions can change quickly at high altitude, so proper clothing and preparation matter regardless of the season.

Winter can bring very cold conditions and snow around higher sections, while the monsoon season can bring rain, clouds, and difficult trail or road conditions.

A Few Things to Keep in Mind

The Annapurna Circuit Luxury Trek gives you a comfortable way to experience a demanding Himalayan journey, but it is still a genuine high-altitude trek.

The most important things to remember are:

  • Prepare your body before the trek.
  • Walk slowly and maintain a steady pace.
  • Take the Manang acclimatization day seriously.
  • Stay hydrated and eat regularly.
  • Tell your guide immediately if you feel unwell.
  • Keep warm layers accessible.
  • Be prepared for changing weather.
  • Carry enough personal cash.
  • Respect local communities and religious traditions.
  • Keep some flexibility for weather and trail conditions.
  • Make sure your travel insurance covers high-altitude trekking and emergency evacuation.

With proper preparation, patience, and a flexible mindset, the Annapurna Circuit becomes more than a trek. It becomes a journey through changing landscapes, mountain communities, ancient traditions, and some of the most remarkable scenery in the Nepal Himalayas.

Unforgettable Trekking Experience & Warmest Hospitality with Silvermoon Adventure Silvermoon Adventure and Tours provides comprehensive, reliable, and top-tier service, treating every guest with genuine warmth and care. They truly make Nepal feel like a second home, and trekking with them means you won't need to worry about a single detail from start to finish. Why I Chose Silvermoon Adventure and Tours I learned about the team through Deepak. Once he knew my flight details and preferred trek, he immediately customized a detailed itinerary for me. While I consulted other travel agencies in Nepal, Deepak and the Silvermoon team provided the most thorough plan and transparent information, giving me complete confidence to book with them. The Trekking Experience My guide, Basanta, took exceptional care of me throughout the entire journey. Along the trail, he constantly checked in on how I was feeling, offered breaks, and even offered to carry my backpack to ensure I was comfortable. Every time we arrived at a tea house, he made sure I had food and drinks ready—even reminding me to order meals when I was too exhausted to think about it. On the day we reached Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), I developed a mild headache. Basanta immediately arranged garlic soup to help relieve the altitude sickness and provided medicine to soothe the pain. His attentive care made all the difference in completing the trek safely. Beyond his attentiveness, Basanta is an expert guide who always navigated the easiest paths at trail junctions. Even after we returned to Pokhara for dinner, he ensured I got back to my hotel safely. Deepak also checked in via message every single day during the trek to ensure everything was running smoothly. After the Trek The team's hospitality didn't end on the trail. Back in Kathmandu, the founder, Bishal, gave me a warm welcome, helped me retrieve my luggage from the hotel, showed me around the city, and personally arranged my airport drop-off. Thank you to Basanta, Bishal, and Deepak for an unforgettable experience. I will definitely return to Nepal and trek with Silvermoon Adventure and Tours again. Highly recommended!

Excellent guide and wonderful experience My husband and I had the most amazing experience trekking in the Himalayas to Poonhill with Bishal. We were very well looked after and felt extremely safe with him at all times. He made us laugh when the hike got a little trickier and always made sure we had hot drinks and food as soon as we got to the huts. We would highly recommend him as a wonderful and trustworthy guide and will definitely contact him again when we have plans to come back!
