The Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon is the world’s highest trail race. Commemorating the historic first successful summit of Mount Everest on May 29, 1953, this extreme high-altitude adventure starts at Everest Base Camp and finishes down in Namche Bazaar.

Day 1
(May 18): Arrival in Kathmandu (1,400m
Morning/Afternoon: Arrive at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM). Clear customs, retrieve luggage, and transfer to your hotel in Thamel.
Evening: Meet your trek guide for a detailed briefing, gear check, and welcome dinner featuring authentic Nepali Dal Bhat.

Day 2
(May 19): Scenic flight from Kathmandu/Ramechhap to Lukla (2,840m) & trek to Phakding (2,610m)
Morning: Early morning transfer to the airport for a scenic flight to Tenzing-Hillary Airport in Lukla (~35 mins). Assemble gear with porters.
Afternoon: Begin trekking downhill along the Dudh Koshi Valley, crossing suspension bridges to reach Phakding (~3–4 hours, 8 km). Overnight at a teahouse.

(May 20): Trek along the Dudh Koshi River to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
Morning: Walk through pine forests along the Dudh Koshi River, crossing the iconic Hillary Suspension Bridge.
Afternoon: Begin the steep uphill climb to Namche Bazaar, catching your first view of Mt. Everest (~5–6 hours, 11 km). Check into your lodge.

Day 4
(May 21): Acclimatization day & short hike around Namche Bazaa
Morning: Hike up to the Everest View Hotel (3,880m) for panorama views of Everest, Lhotse, and Ama Dablam.
Afternoon: Descend back to Namche to visit the Sherpa Culture Museum and local bakeries for rest and hydration.

Day 5
(May 22): Trek to Tengboche (3,860m) and visit Tengboche Monastery
Morning: Follow a scenic contouring trail high above the Imja Khola, then descend to Phunki Tenga for lunch.
Afternoon: Ascend steeply through rhododendron forests to Tengboche (~5 hours, 10 km). Visit the famous Tengboche Monastery during evening prayers.

Day 6
(May 23): Trek to Dingboche (4,360m)
Morning: Descend through birch and conifer forests to Deboche, cross the Imja River, and head towards Pangboche.
Afternoon: Pass stone walls into the open Imja Valley to reach the wind-swept settlement of Dingboche (~5–6 hours, 11 km).

(May 24): Acclimatization rest day in Dingboche
Morning: Hike up Nagarjun Hill (5,100m) or Chukkhung Ri for views of Makalu and Lhotse.
Afternoon: Return to Dingboche for an afternoon of rest, hydration, and stretching to prepare for higher elevations.

(May 25): Trek to Lobuche (4,940m)
Morning: Trail ascends gently through the broad valley to Dughla, followed by a steep climb up the terminal moraine of the Khumbu Glacier.
Afternoon: Pass the poignant memorial site for fallen climbers at Thokla Pass before continuing to Lobuche (~4–5 hours, 7 km).

(May 26): Trek to Gorak Shep (5,164m)
Morning: Trek along the lateral moraine of the Khumbu Glacier over rough, rocky terrain to Gorak Shep (~3 hours, 4.5 km).
Afternoon: Check into the lodge, rest, and prepare gear for the upcoming high-altitude days.

(May 27): Hike to Kala Patthar (5,545m) and trek to Everest Base Camp (5,364m)
Early Morning: Pre-dawn hike up Kala Patthar for sunrise views over Mt. Everest.
Afternoon: Descend to Gorak Shep for breakfast, then trek across glacier ice and moraine to Everest Base Camp (~5–6 hours total, 10 km). Settle into race tentage.

(May 28): Rest, race briefing, and route orientation at Everest Base Camp
All Day: Mandatory Tenzing-Hillary Everest Marathon briefing, route orientation, medical checks, and altitude checks at Base Camp. Carb-load and rest.

(May 29): RACE DAY – Run from Everest Base Camp to Namche Bazaar (3,440m)
Morning: Early start for the marathon (42.2 km). Descend rapidly from Base Camp (5,364m) down through Gorak Shep, Lobuche, Dingboche, and Tengboche.
Afternoon: Cross the finish line in Namche Bazaar, receive your medal, and celebrate at local venues.

(May 30): Celebration and rest day in Namche Bazaar
All Day: Full day of recovery in Namche. Enjoy warm showers, cafes, massage services, and official post-race celebrations with fellow runners.

(May 31): Trek from Namche Bazaar back to Lukla
Morning/Afternoon: Long final trek descending the steep hill out of Namche, crossing bridges back past Phakding, and climbing up to Lukla (~6–7 hours, 19 km).
Evening: Final farewell dinner with porters and guide team.
