Trip Overview

The Everest Base Camp trek is not just about getting to the base of the world’s highest mountain. It is the kind of journey that slowly pulls you into the rhythm of the Himalayas. Over the course of the trek, you walk through quiet Sherpa villages, cross long suspension bridges above icy rivers, and spend days surrounded by mountains that seem unreal when seen up close.

The journey begins with a short flight from Kathmandu to Lukla, a small mountain airstrip surrounded by steep hills. The moment you land at the Lukla airport, the trek starts, and you will follow the trail of the Dudh Koshi River. Along the way, you will pass through villages like Phakding, Monjo, and Namche Bazaar.

Everest Base Camp Trek Route

In the first few days, you walk through pine forests, cross long suspension bridges covered with prayer flags, and hear the sound of rivers rushing below. The path rises and falls constantly, but every turn brings new mountain views that keep you moving forward. Namche Bazaar is the first major stop on the trek. Most trekkers spend an extra day here to adjust to the altitude. You can explore the small cafés, bakeries, and local markets while enjoying your first clear views of the high Himalayas.

Continuing the trek, the landscape around begins to change. You will walk along rocky trails, through open valleys, and across glacier-covered terrain. Along the way, the villages like Tengboche, Dingboche, and Lobuche feel quieter and more remote, and you will also pass Buddhist monasteries. The mountains stay with you throughout the journey. Ama Dablam stands sharply above the valleys, while peaks like Lhotse, Nuptse, and Mount Everest appear closer each day.

Most trekking days involve around 5 to 7 hours of walking. The trails are not technical, but the high altitude makes every step feel heavier as the air gets thinner. That is why acclimatization days are important. They give your body time to adjust and help you continue safely.

The final part of the trek takes you to Gorakshep, the last settlement before Everest Base Camp. From there, you walk across rocky glacier paths to reach Everest Base Camp at 5,364 meters. Standing there, surrounded by ice, rock, and towering peaks, feels unreal after days of trekking through the Himalayas.

Many trekkers start hiking up Kala Patthar early the next morning. From the top, you will witness an unforgettable moment of the trek, the sunrise. The first light lands over Mount Everest and the surrounding Himalayan peaks, and the scenery is out of this world. The walk back down feels easier and more relaxed. The villages and trails that once felt challenging now feel familiar. Without the pressure of gaining altitude, you have more time to enjoy the views, talk with locals, and take in the beauty of the Khumbu region at a slower pace.

You will then return to Lukla and take the flight back to Kathmandu, carrying memories of long trails, quiet mountain villages, and days spent among the highest peaks in the world.

What people remember most, though, is often the experience between the big moments, cold mornings in the tea houses, the sound of yak bells on the trail, cups of hot tea after a long walk, and the feeling of waking up each day surrounded by mountains.

If you want to stand beneath the world’s highest mountains and experience the beauty of the Himalayas, the Everest Base Camp trek is a journey worth taking. Start planning your adventure and get ready for unforgettable days on the trails of the Khumbu region.

Trip notes

It is strongly advised to include additional buffer days in Kathmandu, as the weather in the Himalayas can change rapidly and flights to Tenzing-Hillary Airport are frequently delayed. As you ascend, charging outlets, Wi-Fi, and hot showers become scarcer and more expensive, while tea houses grow colder and more basic.

Trekking poles may make long descents considerably easier on the knees, and packing light with appropriate clothing is preferable to lugging heavy gear. Before departing Kathmandu, make sure you have enough Nepalese currency, as ATMs outside Namche Bazaar are unreliable.

Cost Includes

  • Airport picks up and drops off.
  • All necessary trekking permits (Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit, Pasang Lhamu Rural Municipality fee, TIMS, or equivalent).
  • Round-trip airfare between Manthali and Lukla.
  • Hotel accommodation in Kathmandu (3-star, twin sharing)

  • Three meals a day (breakfast, lunch, dinner) during the trek.
  • Professional trekking guide and porter (1 porter for two trekkers).
  • Guide insurance, salary, food, and lodging and transport.
  • All government and local taxes.

Cost Excludes

  • International airfares.
  • Nepal entry visa fees.
  • All personal expenses, including alcohol & other beverages, trekking equipment, travel insurance, and more.
  • Extra expenses during the trek, like hot shower charge, battery charging, Wi-Fi, and any others.
  • Porter (1 porter for 2 trekkers, maximum weight).
  • Tips for the trekking guides and porters.
  • Additional hotel stays in Kathmandu if not on the planned itinerary.

Unforgettable Trekking Experience & Warmest Hospitality with Silvermoon Adventure Silvermoon Adventure and Tours provides comprehensive, reliable, and top-tier service, treating every guest with genuine warmth and care. They truly make Nepal feel like a second home, and trekking with them means you won't need to worry about a single detail from start to finish. Why I Chose Silvermoon Adventure and Tours I learned about the team through Deepak. Once he knew my flight details and preferred trek, he immediately customized a detailed itinerary for me. While I consulted other travel agencies in Nepal, Deepak and the Silvermoon team provided the most thorough plan and transparent information, giving me complete confidence to book with them. The Trekking Experience My guide, Basanta, took exceptional care of me throughout the entire journey. Along the trail, he constantly checked in on how I was feeling, offered breaks, and even offered to carry my backpack to ensure I was comfortable. Every time we arrived at a tea house, he made sure I had food and drinks ready—even reminding me to order meals when I was too exhausted to think about it. On the day we reached Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), I developed a mild headache. Basanta immediately arranged garlic soup to help relieve the altitude sickness and provided medicine to soothe the pain. His attentive care made all the difference in completing the trek safely. Beyond his attentiveness, Basanta is an expert guide who always navigated the easiest paths at trail junctions. Even after we returned to Pokhara for dinner, he ensured I got back to my hotel safely. Deepak also checked in via message every single day during the trek to ensure everything was running smoothly. After the Trek The team's hospitality didn't end on the trail. Back in Kathmandu, the founder, Bishal, gave me a warm welcome, helped me retrieve my luggage from the hotel, showed me around the city, and personally arranged my airport drop-off. Thank you to Basanta, Bishal, and Deepak for an unforgettable experience. I will definitely return to Nepal and trek with Silvermoon Adventure and Tours again. Highly recommended!

Excellent guide and wonderful experience My husband and I had the most amazing experience trekking in the Himalayas to Poonhill with Bishal. We were very well looked after and felt extremely safe with him at all times. He made us laugh when the hike got a little trickier and always made sure we had hot drinks and food as soon as we got to the huts. We would highly recommend him as a wonderful and trustworthy guide and will definitely contact him again when we have plans to come back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ An unforgettable solo trek! As a solo traveler, I couldn't have asked for a better experience on the 5-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Silver Moon Adventure. From day one, I felt completely safe, welcomed, and well taken care of. My guide was incredible—friendly, professional, and full of knowledge about the mountains, local villages, and trail. The itinerary was perfectly paced, taking us through beautiful forests and culture-rich Gurung villages before that breathtaking sunrise at Base Camp. Meals, tea houses, and logistics were handled seamlessly every step of the way, making the entire journey completely stress-free. If you’re planning to trek in Nepal—especially solo—I can't recommend Silver Moon Adventure enough. Thank you for such a memorable adventure, I’d trek with you again in a heartbeat! 🏔️✨

It was good experience sightseeing at Kathmandu My trip with Silver Moon Adventure was truly unforgettable. Exploring the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Kathmandu was an amazing experience, with each place showcasing Nepal's rich history, culture, and architectural beauty. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting the monasteries in Pharping. The peaceful atmosphere and meditation experience were deeply spiritual and left me feeling calm and inspired. It was a unique opportunity that I will always remember.
