Additional information

To help you prepare for your Kathmandu Valley Tour, here are a few useful things to know before you travel:

Fitness Level

This tour is suitable for travelers of all ages with a moderate level of fitness. You’ll spend time walking through temple complexes, palace squares, and historic streets, so you should be comfortable walking for a few hours each day at a relaxed pace.

What to Wear

Since many heritage sites have rough stone roads, stairs, and cobblestone streets, you should wear suitable walking shoes. To respect local customs, you should dress for the season and cover your knees and shoulders when visiting temples and other places of worship.

Weather

Kathmandu can be visited year-round. If you’re traveling during spring or autumn, you can expect pleasant weather that’s ideal for sightseeing. Winter mornings and evenings can be chilly, so bring a light jacket. During the monsoon season (June to August), it’s a good idea to carry a rain jacket or umbrella.

Money

The Nepalese Rupee (NPR) is the native currency. Small businesses, local markets, and street sellers frequently prefer cash, but many hotels, restaurants, and larger stores take cards. It is useful to have some local cash on hand for optional gratuities, personal costs, refreshments, and souvenirs.

Photography

You’ll have plenty of opportunities to take photos throughout the tour. Some temples and museums may have restrictions or charge a small camera fee, so it’s always best to check with your guide before taking photos inside religious buildings.

Visiting Temples

Many of the places you’ll visit are active religious sites. You may be asked to remove your shoes before entering certain areas, and it’s important to dress modestly and behave respectfully. Please note that only practicing Hindus are allowed inside the main temple of Pashupatinath, but you can still explore the surrounding temple complex and watch the religious ceremonies from outside.

Food and Drinks

During your stay, you’ll have the chance to try a variety of authentic Nepali dishes. Don’t miss local favorites like momo, dal bhat, traditional Newari cuisine, and Bhaktapur’s famous Juju Dhau (King Curd). Bottled or filtered drinking water is recommended throughout your trip.

Transportation

Your airport transfers and sightseeing will be provided in a comfortable private vehicle. Travel times may vary depending on traffic, especially during peak hours or local festivals.

Your Guide

Your experienced local guide will accompany you throughout the tour, sharing stories, history, and local insights to help you better understand the culture, traditions, and heritage of the Kathmandu Valley.

Entrance Fees

Entrance fees to monuments and UNESCO World Heritage Sites are not included unless stated in your package. Be sure to carry enough Nepalese Rupees if you’ll be paying these fees separately.

Itinerary

Your itinerary may be adjusted if needed due to weather, traffic, festivals, or other local conditions. If any changes are necessary, every effort will be made to ensure you still enjoy the tour’s major highlights.

Unforgettable Trekking Experience & Warmest Hospitality with Silvermoon Adventure Silvermoon Adventure and Tours provides comprehensive, reliable, and top-tier service, treating every guest with genuine warmth and care. They truly make Nepal feel like a second home, and trekking with them means you won't need to worry about a single detail from start to finish. Why I Chose Silvermoon Adventure and Tours I learned about the team through Deepak. Once he knew my flight details and preferred trek, he immediately customized a detailed itinerary for me. While I consulted other travel agencies in Nepal, Deepak and the Silvermoon team provided the most thorough plan and transparent information, giving me complete confidence to book with them. The Trekking Experience My guide, Basanta, took exceptional care of me throughout the entire journey. Along the trail, he constantly checked in on how I was feeling, offered breaks, and even offered to carry my backpack to ensure I was comfortable. Every time we arrived at a tea house, he made sure I had food and drinks ready—even reminding me to order meals when I was too exhausted to think about it. On the day we reached Annapurna Base Camp (ABC), I developed a mild headache. Basanta immediately arranged garlic soup to help relieve the altitude sickness and provided medicine to soothe the pain. His attentive care made all the difference in completing the trek safely. Beyond his attentiveness, Basanta is an expert guide who always navigated the easiest paths at trail junctions. Even after we returned to Pokhara for dinner, he ensured I got back to my hotel safely. Deepak also checked in via message every single day during the trek to ensure everything was running smoothly. After the Trek The team's hospitality didn't end on the trail. Back in Kathmandu, the founder, Bishal, gave me a warm welcome, helped me retrieve my luggage from the hotel, showed me around the city, and personally arranged my airport drop-off. Thank you to Basanta, Bishal, and Deepak for an unforgettable experience. I will definitely return to Nepal and trek with Silvermoon Adventure and Tours again. Highly recommended!

Excellent guide and wonderful experience My husband and I had the most amazing experience trekking in the Himalayas to Poonhill with Bishal. We were very well looked after and felt extremely safe with him at all times. He made us laugh when the hike got a little trickier and always made sure we had hot drinks and food as soon as we got to the huts. We would highly recommend him as a wonderful and trustworthy guide and will definitely contact him again when we have plans to come back!

⭐⭐⭐⭐ An unforgettable solo trek! As a solo traveler, I couldn't have asked for a better experience on the 5-day Annapurna Base Camp Trek with Silver Moon Adventure. From day one, I felt completely safe, welcomed, and well taken care of. My guide was incredible—friendly, professional, and full of knowledge about the mountains, local villages, and trail. The itinerary was perfectly paced, taking us through beautiful forests and culture-rich Gurung villages before that breathtaking sunrise at Base Camp. Meals, tea houses, and logistics were handled seamlessly every step of the way, making the entire journey completely stress-free. If you’re planning to trek in Nepal—especially solo—I can't recommend Silver Moon Adventure enough. Thank you for such a memorable adventure, I’d trek with you again in a heartbeat! 🏔️✨
